Many NFL fans will be tuning into the 2015 Super Bowl to see the Seattle Seahawks square off against the New England Patriots to crown the champion, but there are many people who will be watching and don’t like football.
For the people who don’t care about New England vs. Seattle, tuning in is all about the Super Bowl commercials and which companies and movies will steal the show. Each year, advertisers look to leave a lasting impression on consumers, and this year’s crop of commercials will be no different.
Here are the latest rumors, expectations and most-hyped movie trailers heading into the Super Bowl festivities.
2015 Super Bowl Commercials
Not every American is a football fan. While there are many who couldn’t care less about the outcome of the game, there will be Super Bowl parties across the nation, and people will need something to do while the game is on.
That’s where the commercials come into play.
Every year, several companies and movie studios go all out and produce the most entertaining commercials of the year. There is a huge price tag for these advertisements, though. According to Rob Siltanen of the Los Angeles-based advertising agency Siltanen & Partners, via Forbes, last year’s ads cost $ 4 million for a 30-second spot and $ 8 million for a 60-second spot.
As always, Advertising Age did a great job of breaking down which companies will be advertising, how much time each has purchased and the known facts about the commercials. You can find all of that information here.
There are many rumors about possible advertising ideas and commercial concepts, but it’s hard to keep secrets from the media. One of the biggest rumors circulating is that Lindsay Lohan will be in a Super Bowl segment for Esurance car insurance.
According to TMZ.com, Lohan was seen filming a commercial for the company, and it is believed to be part of the company’s Super Bowl advertising campaign. As a well-known celebrity and part of several high-profile car crashes, this pairing has serious comedic possibilities.
While Esurance is investing heavily in its product, one of last year’s biggest success stories is pulling out of the game. According to Paul R. La Monica of CNN.com, RadioShack will not be advertising during this year’s Super Bowl.
Last year, RadioShack had one of the most celebrated commercials of the entire game, featuring icons from the 1980s like Alf, Hulk Hogan and the California Raisins. With the company currently struggling, advertising at the Super Bowl is not a wise decision.
Advertising for movies is another major part of the Super Bowl commercials, but many companies prefer to debut their trailers during the actual game. One company not doing that this year is Universal Pictures.
In one of the most anticipated movie trailers of the year, fans will be shown the preview for the summer blockbuster, Jurassic World. In the same vein as Jurassic Park, Universal Pictures will play a trailer that should have fans of the original movie and the younger generation excited for the movie.
Over the coming days before the Super Bowl, more and more companies will begin unveiling their ads in order to build excitement. For the people who will be attending Super Bowl parties and don’t care about football, this year’s commercials should be excellent.
